Cincinnati (5-2) and Atlanta (3-5) meet at 9:30 AM ET at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, a neutral site where Atlanta is the designated home team. Both teams made the trip on the same day after playing last week, so neither gets a travel edge. The Bengals have won three straight while scoring 31, 35 and 43 points, and Joe Burrow has thrown at least four touchdown passes in each of those wins. Atlanta was shut out 16-0 at Tampa Bay last week. Cincinnati is a 3.5-point favorite and the total is 52.5.

All three picks ride on one script: a game played at Cincinnati's pace. Burrow keeps scoring, the Bengals win by more than a field goal, and Atlanta has to throw to stay in it, which pushes the total past 52.5. Burrow and Michael Penix Jr. are both active, and all three picks assume both play the whole game.

Bengals vs. Falcons Predictions

  • Pick #1: Over 52.5 (-107)
  • Pick #2: Bengals -3.5 (-107)
  • Pick #3: Jahan Dotson Over 29.5 Receiving Yards (-111)

PICK #1: Over 52.5 (-107)

Start with Cincinnati's offense. The Bengals average 29.4 points per game, Burrow leads the league with 20 touchdown passes, and the last three games produced 31, 35 and 43 points. Atlanta allows 23.6 points per game. That defense hasn't shown it can slow an offense like this one.

The other side of the ball helps. Cincinnati allows 261 passing yards per game, it gave up 36 points in regulation to Tennessee last week, and it plays without safety Kyle Dugger. Four of the Bengals' seven games cleared 52.5, and the 43-36 overtime win over Tennessee cleared it by 26.5.

The market has moved toward the Over. The total opened at 49.5 at more than one book and is now 52.5, and the climb started right after that 43-36 game. Bettors have followed it, with 72% of the money on the Over from 61% of the bets. At -107, the Over implies a 51.7% chance.

What can sink it is Atlanta's half of the scoreboard. The Falcons average 21.4 points and scored none last week, and only three of their eight games went over this number. This pick needs Atlanta to score something close to 20 while Cincinnati does most of the scoring.

PICK #2: Bengals -3.5 (-107)

Cincinnati has won by four or more in five of its seven games, including by 7, 22 and 7 during this winning streak. Two of those three wins came on the road, at Miami and at Baltimore, so a neutral field in Madrid shouldn't bother this team.

The gap between these teams shows up on the scoreboard. The Bengals score 29.4 points and allow 22.6; Atlanta scores 21.4 and allows 23.6. The Falcons' rushing attack has also stalled, with fewer than 100 rushing yards as a team in each of their last three games, which leaves Penix to chase points through the air against a Burrow offense in rhythm. The spread money is on Cincinnati too, 57% of it from 55% of the bets.

-107 implies a 51.7% chance of covering. The risk is a field-goal finish: a Bengals win by exactly three loses this bet, and Cincinnati's two losses came by three and five.

PICK #3: Jahan Dotson Over 29.5 Receiving Yards (-111)

If Atlanta trails, Penix has to throw, and Dotson has been part of that since Penix took over as the starter. In Penix's six starts, Dotson has 11, 54, 54, 87, 6 and 95 receiving yards, clearing 29.5 four times. He has played between 56% and 85% of the offensive snaps in each of those games, he is listed as a starter, and fellow receiver Zachariah Branch is out with a hamstring injury.

He also draws a soft matchup. Cincinnati allows 261 passing yards per game, and its secondary is without Dugger.

At -111, the Over implies a 52.6% chance. Dotson doesn't catch many passes, so a short day is always possible: he has two games under 12 yards with Penix, and the 95 last week came on two catches. Over the full season, counting the two games before Penix started, he cleared this number in four of eight. We're betting on the Penix version of Dotson, in a game that keeps Atlanta throwing.
