Avalanche vs. Blue Jackets Prediction, NHL Odds & Best Bets (11/3)

Fact checked at 6:47 AM ET, Nov 3, 2026
Odds as of 6:45 AM ET, Nov 3, 2026
The Avalanche (9-5-1) visit the Blue Jackets (5-7-0) at Nationwide Arena, with puck drop at 7:00 PM ET. Colorado is on the second night of a back-to-back after winning 5-2 in Chicago last night, but the scoring gap here is wide. The Avalanche average 4.27 goals a game, tied for the most in the league. Columbus averages 2.42, 29th of 32. We think Colorado's attack decides this one, Columbus can't keep pace, and neither goalie stops enough to keep the total under seven.
Mackenzie Blackwood played in Chicago, so Scott Wedgewood is expected in Colorado's net. Jet Greaves is projected for Columbus, which hasn't named a starter.
Avalanche vs. Blue Jackets Predictions
- Pick #1: Over 6.5 (+105)
- Pick #2: Avalanche Moneyline (-130)
PICK #1: Over 6.5 (+105)
Colorado games get to seven a lot. Eleven of the Avalanche's 15 have, including each of the last five: 5-2 wins over Chicago, Calgary and New Jersey, a 6-3 win over Tampa Bay and a 6-2 loss at Nashville. Colorado scored five or more in four of those five.
The goaltending helps. Wedgewood is 1-2-1 with an .889 save percentage in four appearances, and Greaves is 2-5-0 with an .883 mark in eight. Columbus allows 3.25 goals a game, 17th in the league, so the skaters in front of Greaves aren't covering for him.
Plus money on that profile is fair. +105 implies 48.8%, and the Over has 72% of the bets and 84% of the money. Columbus's own scoring is the risk. The Blue Jackets have reached seven total goals in only 5 of their 12 games, and their last two ended 3-1 at Dallas and 3-2 at Carolina. If they score once again, Colorado needs six. The back-to-back could also slow the Avalanche, though they won 7-3 at Calgary on the second night of their first back-to-back.
PICK #2: Avalanche Moneyline (-130)
If Colorado scores the way it has, it should win. Nathan MacKinnon has 25 points in 15 games, Artturi Lehkonen has 12 goals, and Nazem Kadri has four goals in his last five games, two of them in Chicago, including the power-play goal that put Colorado ahead. Columbus has 29 goals in 12 games and has lost two straight. Colorado has 73% of the moneyline bets and 87% of the money.
The schedule and the road record are what could go wrong. Colorado is 3-4 away from home, and on the second night of back-to-backs it has a 7-3 win at Calgary, a shootout loss to Dallas and a 4-3 loss at New Jersey. Columbus is 4-3 at home. Wedgewood is a step down from Blackwood, and Colorado allows 3.07 goals a game, middle of the league, so a one-goal game is possible.
-130 implies 56.5%. Against an offense this thin, we'll take that price.
