Nets vs. Celtics Prediction, NBA Odds & Best Bets (10/27)

Fact checked at 7:25 AM ET, Oct 27, 2026
Odds as of 5:39 AM ET, Oct 27, 2026
Brooklyn is still looking for its first win, and it has to find it at TD Garden, with tip-off at 7:30 PM ET. The Nets are 0-3 after a 110-103 home loss to Charlotte, a 125-121 loss at Cleveland and a 136-109 home loss to Indiana, and they have allowed 123.7 points a game. Boston is 2-1 and coming off a 134-99 rout of Chicago, so the Celtics are on the second night of a back-to-back, with no travel.
We expect Boston to keep scoring the way it did against Chicago and push this game past the total. Brooklyn has given up 125 and 136 in its last two games. Boston's bench did a lot of the damage in the Chicago rout. The total has climbed from 219.5 to 221.5 since it opened, while the spread has held at Boston -11.5 (-114). Both picks need the same thing: plenty of points, with Boston's second unit getting its share.
Boston's injury report for this game isn't out yet, so we don't have statuses for Jayson Tatum, Paul George or anyone else in the rotation. None of Brooklyn's projected starters is on its report. Brooklyn is projected to start Egor Demin, Keon Ellis, Michael Porter Jr., Julius Randle and Day'Ron Sharpe, and Boston Derrick White, Jordan Walsh, Tatum, George and Mitchell Robinson. Neither lineup is confirmed.
Nets vs. Celtics Predictions
- Pick #1: Payton Pritchard Over 20.5 Points + Rebounds (-116)
- Pick #2: Over 221.5 (-108)
PICK #1: Payton Pritchard Over 20.5 Points + Rebounds (-116)
Pritchard just dropped 28 points in 22 minutes on Chicago, with seven three-pointers, and now he gets a Brooklyn defense that is giving up 123.7 points a game.
He has come off the bench in all three games, playing 28, 30 and 22 minutes. At Detroit he had 17 points and four rebounds. Against New York he managed four points and one rebound in 30 minutes. Then came the 28 and one against Chicago, so he is 2 for 3 over 20.5. His longer record puts this line right at his normal output: last season he averaged 17.0 points and 3.9 rebounds across 79 games (50 of them starts), and he cleared 20.5 in three of his four games against Brooklyn, with 32, 16, 36 and 22.
Brooklyn's defense is the bigger reason. Brooklyn has allowed 110, 125 and 136 points, and Indiana made 49 of its 85 shots in the 136-109 game. Boston's starters played short minutes in the Chicago blowout (Tatum 28, George 25, White 18). On the second night of a back-to-back the Celtics have every reason to lean on the bench again, more so if this one gets out of hand. At -116, the implied probability is 53.7%.
Nearly all of this has to come from scoring. Pritchard has four, one and one rebounds this season, so a cold shooting night like the New York game sinks it, and his scoring has run anywhere from 4 to 28. If Pritchard himself sits, most sportsbooks void the bet, so check your book's rules.
PICK #2: Over 221.5 (-108)
Brooklyn's last two games produced 246 and 245 points. Boston just scored 134 with no starter playing more than 28 minutes.
The Nets are allowing 123.7 points a game, and Boston is scoring 118. Tatum has scored 13, 36 and 23, George 38, 15 and 16, and Pritchard's 28 against Chicago showed the bench can carry long stretches. Brooklyn can score some too: Randle has 33, 23 and 10 points, and Porter has 26, 28 and 10. Four of the six games these teams have played went over 221.5, and the market has gone the same way, with the total moving up from 219.5 to 221.5 since it opened. The Over at -108 implies 51.9%. This is a full-game total, so overtime points count.
The case against the Over starts with Boston's defense, which has allowed 107.7 points a game; its 107-103 win over New York finished well under this number. Brooklyn scores 111 a game, so the Nets may not hold up their end. If Boston rests Tatum or George on the back-to-back, its scoring takes the biggest hit, and a lopsided game can slow to a crawl late.
