Dallas Cowboys @ San Francisco 49ers
A lot has changed in a year since these teams last met in the playoffs, when the 49ers beat the Cowboys 23-17. The big difference is in each teams offense. The 49ers are led by a young Brock Purdy who is 6-0 since taking over in the QB role. His stats for that six-game run are incredible and he's ranked first in the following offensive categories since taking over: points per game, yards per game, yards per pass – we could go on. This seems to be the narrative heading in, and is largely why the 49ers go in as four-point favorites. As for the Cowboys offense, they're led by a rejuvenated Dak Prescott who leads the league in scoring for the second half of the season.
Having said all that, we’re not fully buying the hype of the 49ers and won’t be backing them here. The data on Purdy is just not long enough for us for it to be a valid sample. Particularly when you measure the 49ers up against the Cowboys, and a very impressive Prescott. Since Dak returned from injury in Week 7, the Cowboys have led the league for scoring and Prescott has been the driving force behind that. And while he’s thrown a few interceptions, he's also completed 72% of his passes. Adding extra conviction to our view that the Cowboys are the team to beat today is how they played in their 31-14 win last week against the Bucs. The Bucs and Tom Brady never were able to get it going offensively, while Prescott threw for 305 yards and five TDs at a 75% completion rate with no interceptions.
We picked them last week and we're picking them again here. Cowboys +4. Top performing bettors Reign80 (326-243) and Mike Rose (65-49) are picking the Cowboys. Reign80 is taking the Moneyline, while Mike Rose is taking 4 points of insurance.
Pick: Cowboys +4
Best Prop
We’re again on the Ezekiel Elliot train here since he's scored at least one touchdown in nine of his last 11 appearances. Granted, he hasn’t scored in the last two, but prior to that you have to go all the way back to the Rams game in October for another clean touchdown sheet. Giving us further confidence is that the Cowboys are the overall leader in the NFL in touchdown percentage (72%).
