Fact checked at 9:05 AM ET, Nov 7, 2026
Odds as of 8:07 AM ET, Nov 7, 2026
Cincinnati (5-3, 2-3 Big 12) visits No. 17 Houston (6-2, 3-2) at 3:30 PM ET in Houston for the Cougars' homecoming game. Houston is a 10.5-point favorite and the total is 61.5. The Cougars come in rested off a bye, which followed a 21-13 loss at Utah. Cincinnati beat Texas Tech 37-24 and then lost 49-25 at home to Utah.
We see a close game played on the ground. Cincinnati runs for 229.4 yards a game, with Cole Tabb averaging 9.52 yards a carry. Houston has converted 63 of 105 third downs and likes to hold the ball, which cuts down on possessions for both offenses. That gets Cincinnati inside 10.5, Tabb into the end zone and the final under 61.5.
Cincinnati vs. Houston Predictions
- Pick #1: Cincinnati +10.5 (-108)
- Pick #2: Cole Tabb Anytime Touchdown (-135)
- Pick #3: Under 61.5 (-111)
PICK #1: Cincinnati +10.5 (-108)
Houston rarely wins by this much. Of its seven games against FBS teams, the Cougars have won by more than 10.5 three times: by 13 against Oregon State, 14 at Georgia Southern and 19 at Kansas State. They beat UCF by 10 and Oklahoma State by 3 at home, and they lost at Texas Tech and at Utah. Cincinnati has finished within 10.5 in five of its seven FBS games, and the two misses were blowouts at Arizona and against Utah.
The run game keeps this tight. Long Cincinnati drives keep a mediocre defense on the sideline. Houston allows only 100.5 rushing yards a game and 3.7 a carry, so this is strength against strength. Still, Cincinnati has scored 25 or more in six of its seven FBS games, and Houston managed 13 in its last outing.
Most previews have Houston winning by two touchdowns. Quarterback Conner Weigman and tight end Patrick Overmyer both returned to practice after the bye, and Cincinnati's center spot is unsettled: Taran Tyo, who missed the Utah game, is questionable on the Big 12's latest report, and backup Grant Edgington is out. The bigger bets are with us, though, as Cincinnati has 34% of the spread tickets and 53% of the money. At -108, the break-even is 51.9%.
PICK #2: Cole Tabb Anytime Touchdown (-135)
Tabb at -135 is priced as a 57.4% chance, and he has cleared that most weeks. He has 13 touchdowns, 10 rushing and three receiving, and he's scored in five of Cincinnati's seven FBS games plus the FCS win over Western Carolina. He's also had three straight 100-yard games (118 at West Virginia, 173 against Texas Tech, 131 against Utah) and scored in each of those games.
Those three receiving touchdowns help against this defense. Houston stuffs the run, but Cincinnati can still get Tabb the ball in space through the air. And if the game stays close, as it should, the Bearcats can keep running instead of chasing points.
The main threat is his own quarterback. JC French IV has seven rushing touchdowns and can take the goal-line carry. Tabb's two FBS games without a score were the opener against Boston College and the loss at Arizona.
PICK #3: Under 61.5 (-111)
Houston's scoring history doesn't support a number this high. Its seven FBS games have averaged 53 total points, and only two went over 61.5. The Cougars kept the ball for more than 33 minutes in three of their last five games, and when a team converts 60% of its third downs, the clock keeps running. The Under is -111, a 52.6% break-even.
Cincinnati's games are the reason the number is up here: 74 points against Utah, 87 at West Virginia, 66 against Miami (Ohio). Even so, four of its seven FBS games stayed under 61.5, including the 37-24 win over Texas Tech. When Cincinnati runs the ball to stay in a game, it's playing at Houston's pace.
The Under has only 20% of the bets but 36% of the money. Several previews like the Over, and they have a point: Cincinnati's pass defense gives up 282 yards a game, and Houston can throw. A 31-24 Houston win still comes in under.
