At long last, the 2026 college football season is finally here, and we have a loaded slate of Week 1 action on our hands this weekend. One of the marquee games on Saturday’s slate is a clash between the Boise State Broncos and Oregon Ducks, a couple of teams that could meet each other in the College Football Playoff down the road. With this fascinating matchup nearly upon us, it’s time to dive into our expert’s college football predictions and best bets for Saturday’s Pac-12 vs Big Ten showdown.

Pick #1 - Oregon Ducks -24.5 over Boise State Broncos (-110)

PICK #1: Oregon -24.5 over Boise State (-110)

These teams are no strangers to being part of some instant classics in the regular season, and we were just treated to one in Autzen Stadium in 2024 when Boise State took Oregon down to the wire in a game that ended on a field goal from the Ducks as time expired. It’s safe to say that Dan Lanning has likely referenced that game multiple times to his team in preparation for this week’s contest, and the Ducks should be very prepared to deal with the upstart Broncos this time around. 

When comparing the Boise State team from 2024 to this year’s team, it’s not really a contest. Not only did that version of the Broncos have Ashton Jeanty — the best player in the nation —  but they were also much better in the trenches on both sides of the ball. This year’s version doesn’t have the talent or depth to hang with an elite Oregon group over the course of four quarters, and the disparity between these teams should show itself from the opening quarter. Look for Dante Moore and the Oregon offense to put up plenty of points, while the elite Ducks defensive line and secondary stifle Boise State’s run-reliant offense in return. Lay the number with Oregon.                 

PICK #2: Boise State vs Oregon Over 51 (-118)

Our expert is bullish on Oregon’s path to points in this game, so it only makes sense that we’ll also be targeting the over while it’s still hovering around the key number of 51. Dante Moore and the Ducks offense can beat opposing defenses in a myriad of ways, and they should face little resistance against a poor Boise State secondary and weaker defensive line than in previous seasons. We are projecting at least 41 points from the Ducks in this game, which means the Broncos only need to register 10+ points for this over to cash.    

PICK #3: Evan Stewart (Oregon) anytime touchdown scorer (+135)

Evan Stewart was one of Oregon’s top options at wide receiver in 2024, but he missed the entirety of the 2025 season due to a serious injury he suffered in fall camp. With this being his first game at Autzen Stadium in nearly two years, our expert suspects that Lanning and his offensive coaching staff will try to get Stewart plenty of touches to get him back into game shape — including around the goal line. That narrative script is worth a bet at plus-money, so let’s back the veteran wideout to find the end zone in this season opener.
