Red Wings vs. Kraken Prediction, NHL Odds & Best Bets (10/20)

Fact checked at 7:58 AM ET, Oct 20, 2026
Odds as of Oct 20, 7:08 AM ET
Seattle comes home at 5-3-1 after a 3-1-1 road trip that started with a 6-3 win in Detroit on Oct. 9 and ended with an 8-3 loss at Florida on Saturday. The Kraken score 3.78 goals per game, tied for fifth in the league, and 11 of their skaters already have multiple goals. In that Oct. 9 game, five Seattle players finished with multi-point nights.
Detroit is 3-3-2 and has points in four straight, the latest a 4-3 shootout win over San Jose on Saturday. The Red Wings played seven of their first eight at home and score 2.38 goals a game, tied for 27th. Their penalty kill is the soft spot: 20 kills on 29 chances, 69.0%. Seattle's power play is converting 20.7%. Daniil Tarasov gets the start for Detroit with a .965 save percentage over three appearances.
We're backing Seattle's first power-play unit to do damage at home. Bobby McMann, Jared McCann, Chandler Stephenson, Jordan Eberle and Vince Dunn make up that group, and McMann and McCann are the two whose numbers hold up beyond this month. Seattle is a short home favorite. Puck drop is Tuesday at 9:40 PM ET at Climate Pledge Arena.
Both picks lean on that same unit, so a flat night from it hurts both.
Red Wings vs. Kraken Predictions
- Pick #1: Bobby McMann Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-110)
- Pick #2: Jared McCann Over 0.5 Points (-135)
PICK #1: Bobby McMann Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-110)
McMann started shooting the moment he got to Seattle. He played 18 games for the Kraken at the end of last season, put 58 shots on goal (3.2 a game) and reached three in 12 of them. Add this season's 6 of 9 and he's at 18 of 27 as a Kraken. That works out to two-thirds, against the 52.4% that -110 implies.
This season's log reads 3 shots in the opener at Calgary, 3 against Edmonton, 6 against Calgary, 3 against Vegas, 3 in the win at Detroit and 4 at Washington. He plays left wing on Chandler Stephenson's line and on the top power play, and his ice time has stayed between 14:45 and 18:58. The role is what we're betting on. With Toronto last season, in fewer minutes, he averaged about two shots a game.
He does come in cold. He had 2 shots at Philadelphia, 1 at Tampa Bay and none at Florida, all late in a long trip. He still played 15:24 at Florida, close to his norm, so the minutes didn't go anywhere. Seattle only averages 26.4 shots a game as a team, though, so he has to get his usual share.
PICK #2: Jared McCann Over 0.5 Points (-135)
McCann's scoring rate isn't a hot start. He has a point in 6 of his 9 games this season and had one in 32 of his 52 games last season. That's 38 of 61 over the two seasons, roughly 62%, and -135 only asks for 57.4%.
He opened with three assists at Calgary, then picked up points against Calgary at home, Vegas, Detroit, Washington and Tampa Bay. The goals came against Vegas, Washington and Tampa Bay, and three of his points were on the power play, where he works the first unit. His lightest night was the 6-3 win at Detroit, when he still got an assist in 12:01. Every other game he's played between 14:29 and 18:59, on the left side of the top line with Matty Beniers.
He was blanked in 3 of 9, Saturday at Florida included. What tips it is Detroit's penalty kill. A first-unit winger gets the most of those chances, and Seattle's projected lines for tonight keep McCann on that unit.
