Football is back, ladies and gentlemen. That’s right; the 2026 NFL regular season kicks off this week with a highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday night in Seattle. The Seahawks return as defending champions, having lifted the Lombardi Trophy following a 29-13 victory over the Patriots on February 8 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. After almost exactly a five-month hiatus, these two teams tangle once more – this time in the first game of the season rather than the last.
With Wednesday’s contest set for 8:20 PM ET on NBC, it’s time to break down the odds and discuss the Patriots vs. Seahawks best bets to make.

Pick #1: Seattle Seahawks -3 over New England Patriots (-118)

PICK #1: Seahawks -3 over Patriots (-118)
Seattle completely dominated Super Bowl 60, rolling to a 19-0 lead before New England scored some relatively meaningless points in the fourth quarter. That game, of course, was at a neutral site. Now the Seahawks get to play in the friendly confines of Lumen Field, one of the toughest venues for visiting teams in the NFL.
Speaking of tough, the Patriots’ offseason did not exactly go according to plan – largely due to the off-field shenanigans of head coach Mike Vrabel regarding his relationship with reporter Diana Russini. From a personnel standpoint, the Pats appeared to make some solid transactions on the offensive side of the ball. Still, it could take a while for a new group of players to find some chemistry.
If there do turn out to be some growing pains, perhaps no team in football is better equipped to exploit those than Seattle. After all, this is the defending Super Bowl champion we are talking about – and a team with well-respected veterans all over the field on both sides of the ball.
There is no denying that New England went 14-3 during the 2025 regular season, but that was largely due to an incredibly easy schedule. Well, its schedule to begin the 2026 campaign could not be more difficult.
PICK #2: Under 44.5 (-110)
In 2025, New England played its ugliest game of the entire regular season in Week 1 – falling at home to Las Vegas 20-13. For multiple reasons, a similarly inept offensive performance would not come as a surprise.
One, the Patriots are facing a much more daunting defense in that of the Seahawks.
Two, quarterback Drake Maye needs to establish a connection with new receivers AJ Brown and Romeo Doubs. That should happen with time – but it might not happen in Week 1 against perhaps the best defense they will face all season.
When the Seahawks have the ball, they will no longer be handing it to reigning Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III. Walker took his talents to Kansas City in free agency, while Zach Charbonnet is still recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.
Going into the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl, the score was 12-0. These should once again be two of the best defenses in the NFL, so this is another matchup during which points will likely come at a premium.
PICK #3: Jadarian Price Over 51.5 rushing yards (-114)
With Walker gone and Charbonnet still sidelined, Price begins his rookie season as Seattle’s primary running back. To say that he could not have been drafted into a better situation would be a gross understatement. The Notre Dame product is playing for the Super Bowl champs, is immediately a starter and gets to run behind one of the best offensive lines in the sport.
Despite playing behind Jeremiyah Love in South Bend, Price rushed 113 times for 674 yards and 11 touchdowns last year. That was preceded by a 746-yard effort on 120 carries in 2024. As his first-round draft pick tag confirms, Price is no joke. A modest number of 51.5 to start his NFL career is one that he can exceed.
