Odds as of 6:50 AM ET, Oct 30, 2026
Charlotte visits Capital One Arena tonight for a 7:00 PM ET tip in an NBA Cup group game. We think the Hornets' offense keeps this one low. Charlotte is last in the league at 101 points a game, turns it over 20.2 times a game, and is again without Coby White, Kon Knueppel and Grant Williams. That points to the Under, a low assist count from Brandon Miller, who is taking most of the shots, and Anthony Davis finishing short of his rebound line against a team that keeps its own misses.
Hornets vs. Wizards Predictions
- Pick #1: Under 220.5 (-110)
- Pick #2: Brandon Miller Under 3.5 Assists (-164)
- Pick #3: Anthony Davis Under 10.5 Rebounds (-127)
PICK #1: Under 220.5 (-110)
All five Charlotte games have gone under their closing total, and four of the five finished below 220.5 combined. White, Knueppel and Williams missed every one of them, so those games describe tonight's team. It's still a small sample, and one of the five was an 81-128 loss to Atlanta.
The loss at Detroit shows the problem. Charlotte led by seven at the half, then finished with 25 turnovers and 89 points. Miller had 31, Dennis Schroder had 14, and no other Hornet reached double figures. Naz Reid, one of the main returns in the LaMelo Ball trade, played 13 minutes and sat the second half for not meeting "our standards," in coach Charles Lee's words. Reid should play tonight, though his minutes are anyone's guess. Schroder is questionable with a right foot injury, and without him Charlotte loses its second scorer from that game.
Books posted this game at 223.5 with Charlotte a slight favorite. Now the total is 220.5, some books are at 219.5, and Washington is -1.5 (-110). The Under has 90% of the money on 64% of the bets, and -110 implies 52.4%.
The Wizards score 113.6 a game, only two of their five games stayed under 220.5, and two reached 244. AJ Dybantsa missed the first meeting and scored 19 in his debut at Cleveland. One public projection has this game at 224.5, while two others are at 219 and 220.
PICK #2: Brandon Miller Under 3.5 Assists (-164)
Miller has nine assists in five games: 3, 1, 4, 0 and 1. He's taking 23.6 shots a game, up from 16.1 last season, and he has scored at least 31 in three straight, including a career-high 39 against these Wizards with one assist.
This isn't a cheap way to bet that role. -164 implies 62.1%, and last season Miller averaged 3.3 assists and finished at 3 or fewer in 37 of 65 games, about 57%. We think this season is different. White and Knueppel haven't played, he has logged 36 to 38 minutes in four of five games and 23 in the Atlanta loss, and his teammates aren't making much. Charlotte shoots 41.7% and averages 20.6 assists, and the same missed shots that support the Under limit his assist chances.
Schroder is the concern. He averages 4.8 assists, and if he sits, Sion James is the likely point guard, Grayson Allen joins the starters and rookie Christian Anderson Jr. gets more minutes. Miller could end up handling the ball more in that group. He did reach 4 against Miami, and we only have five games to go on.
PICK #3: Anthony Davis Under 10.5 Rebounds (-127)
Charlotte's misses often go back to Charlotte. The Hornets average 14.6 offensive rebounds and had 20 in the first meeting, 11 of them from Moussa Diabate, who finished with 17 boards. Davis had 10 in 36 minutes that night, all on the defensive end. Charlotte's 20.2 turnovers a game also end possessions with no rebound to collect.
His totals are 5, 10, 6, 9 and 12, so he has stayed under 10.5 in four of five. The 12 came in a 244-point game against Milwaukee. In the two Washington games that stayed low, 214 and 213 points, he had 9 and 10. He has started all five and played 31 to 36 minutes, with Alex Sarr starting next to him and Deandre Ayton playing 12 to 16 minutes off the bench. Washington averages 40.0 rebounds, 28th in the league.
At -127 this implies 55.9%, and his longer record cuts against it. Davis averaged 11.1 rebounds in 20 games for Dallas last season and has 10.7 for his career, both above this line. We're betting on this frontcourt, but the sample is five games, and just one came with Dybantsa starting, when Davis had 5 in 34 minutes at Cleveland. Tristan Vukcevic is out, and Davis got within one of this number in the first meeting.
